Pansy

It is a cheerful, easy, quick-growing annual flower! They’re colorful, edible flowers, and good for kids to plant. They’re also great for companion planting as a fantastic trap crop; the mustard oil they produce is adored by garden pests. After seeding, plants appear in 7 to 10 days. Here’s how to grow your own nasturtiums! These plants, with their bright greenery and vibrant flowers, are good for containers or as ground cover. Their pretty fragrance also makes them a good choice for cut flowers. Nasturtiums are perfect to grow with children because they grow so easily and rapidly.

Nasturtium

Nasturtium flowers are versatile; attractive in the landscape and useful in the garden. Nasturtium plants are fully edible and growing nasturtiums can be used to lure aphids away from other plants in the garden.
Many people assume it is the leaves that are edible, like an herb or salad green, but you can use the flowers too, for culinary decoration and for eating. Both the leaves and the flowers have a peppery, spicy flavor and add a bite to green salads.

Rose

Flavor reminiscent of strawberries and green apples. Sweet, with subtle undertones ranging from fruit to mint to spice. All roses are edible, with the flavor being more pronounced in the darker varieties. Miniature varieties can garnish ice cream and desserts, or larger petals can be sprinkled on desserts or salads. Freeze them in ice cubes and float them in punches. Petals can be used in syrups, jellies, perfumed butters and sweet spreads. Note: Be sure to remove the bitter white portion of the petals.

Violet

Violets, both the leaves and flowers, contain high amounts of vitamin C and vitamin A. The edible violet plant can be used to make syrups, brew teas, and in baked desserts. Flowers can be added to salads and soups as garnish. Moderation is important, as this plant does contain a compound called saponin, so eating violet flowers and leaves in excess may cause digestive issues

Calendula

It is one of the easiest herbs to grow and a highly versatile medicinal plant. The sunshiny flowers are a traditional remedy for supporting the immune system and lifting the spirits. If that weren’t enough, the edible ray florets of the flower heads (which look like yellow petals) are bursting with antioxidant compounds.

Borage

It is a cheerful, easy, quick-growing annual flower!

Zucchini

Bright yellow in color with striations of white and green, they are tasty whether eaten raw or cooked. You can only eat the male flowers which are the ones that grow independently from the fruit.
