- Preheat the over to 180C/350F.
- Brush a layer of butter in the bottom of a baking dish top with 2 sheets of phyllo pastry.
- Brush lightly with butter then add 2 more sheets of filo.
- Repeat this 2 more times so you have 8 sheets of phyllo pastry in the baking dish.
- Add your 400g of filling and cover with 8 more filo pastry layers.
- Bake the baklava for 20min, while baking, prepare the syrup.
- Warm 2dl water and 200g sugar in a small pot over high heat just until all the sugar is dissolved. Cook for 20 min. on medium heat.
- Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the honey and orange zest. Set it aside to cool.
- 300gr. of hot honey can be used instead of the syrup.
- Take the baklava out of the oven.
- Cut the baklava into 4 long strips. Then make cuts diagonally so you have diamond-shaped pieces. Cover with 200gr of melted butter.
- Reduce heat to 150C/300F and bake for 40min.
- Once it has a gloden crust, take out and cover with the hot syrup or honey.
- Let it cool down.
