Our History
Jim Jones
Born in 1931, Reverend Jim Jones was the visionary founder of Jonesland. From a young age, he exhibited extraordinary leadership qualities, emphasizing tolerance and love for all. In 1955, he established the People's Temple Movement, championing equal rights and social justice.
IIn 1978, Jim Jones dared to dream boldly: to create a real utopia, a society rooted in harmony and peace. He laid the foundation with JonesTown, which later evolved into the sovereign nation of Jonesland, under his enlightened guidance. His visionary leadership received global acclaim, making Jonesland a remarkable testament to vision and determination.
Jim Jones continued to inspire until his passing in 2002, leaving behind a legacy of hope, unity, and the enduring spirit of Jonesland.

You can fly to Jonestown from everywhere in the world. Jonestown Airport (JLC) is about 30 minutes far from downtown.
