Susan Kare is a designer born in Ithaca (NY), USA, in 1954. She is famous for designing the first elements for the macintosh in the 1980s. The icons she designed have the particularity of having a human and interactive aspect. Some of the icons she created are still in use, such as the command symbol, the floppy disk for saving, the recycle bin, the arrow and the hand cursor. The sketchbook that she used to create the icons is currently displayed at the MoMA, showing the very first sketches of the icons and her creative process. Some of her most iconic designs are also availabale in her site in the form of art prints. She also designed the first computer fonts, such as the chicago and some dingbats fonts.
